Yoga Class for Post-Stroke Patients

A study at Indiana University has incorporated the use of yoga into rehabilitation for post-stroke patients.  The initial idea for this study was to improve patient's ability to cope s/p fall.

"... research into therapeutic uses for yoga is "really taking off," particularly in mental health fields. Clinically, she has been watching a small trend of occupational therapists and physical therapists also becoming yoga therapists".

We wonder how many therapists do use yoga as part of the rehab treatment plan?

Creative Outlet for Parkinson's Patients

"Music and drama therapy addresses many of the physical and emotional components of Parkinson's disease. Benefits include improvement of physical coordination and functional movement, postural awareness, as well as speech and voice enrichment."

This article highlights a class for Parkinson's patients at Northwestern Memorial's Prentice Women's Hospital that emphasises singing and playing musical instruments.  What a great idea!
